On February 18, 2009 the 24th Winter Universiade started in Harbin (CHN) with the Opening Ceremony that took place in the Harbin International Conference, Exhibition and Sports Centre Gym. The Organizing Committee dazzled the audience and the WU participants with a fantastic show of light, dance, music, ice skating and acrobatics. It was without doubt the best staged Opening of a Winter Universiade. 2,537 participants of which 1,636 athletes from 44 countries are present in Harbin, among them also many EUSA Member Countries.
