What's up: My personal Coronadiary

This month’s student column reflects on the novel Coronavirus outbreak, the changes in our lives affected by the pandemic, and the positive attitude we can adopt. #BeActive #FitAtHome #StayHome #StaySafe

Dear Diary,
We are really much closer recently, aren’t we? Indeed, I am feeling better to write to you and to be able to express something regarding this completely crazy situation!
And you know, when I woke up this morning I was not in this state of mind. Indeed, my first thoughts were: What else can I do?
It’s my 15th day of confinement in my tiny flat, I already checked all my to-watch-list, I am up to date with the TV shows I follow, my mails are clean, I called mum and dad, I know by heart my Instagram feed, and it’s nonsense to refresh every 5 seconds…
At this moment, watching myself, I felt lost and alone. Imagine the scene with the saddest song you know in the background, just lying in my bed, hopeless.
All of a sudden, I had the effect of an electric shock. I needed to compose myself. That is not because I am stuck in my apartment and I can’t do what I used to do. At least, I just have to adapt it a little.
And you know me, I am used to practising several times a week, but not at home that’s right. I did some research on the internet, and I found a lot of different ways to be able to train here. Actually, I realised that if you are creative you can train for almost everything. And fortunately, if you are not, you can find a lot of inspiration on Instagram, Twitter, Youtube…
So, I decided to create my own #BEACTIVE #STAYHOME routine. Every day or two, I will do physical exercises (for 30 min, 1 hour) using what I have in my flat. I use the bed, the chair, the wall, the floor, even the couch like the Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock did. It’s amazing - all the different possibilities. There is also no need to add extra weight, the weight of my body is enough.
I think I took the right decision. You’ll agree with me, it is important to keep physically active, to feel better and stronger in this period and to spend the energy accumulated. It is good for the body and the spirit.
My Diary, I will have to leave you. We planned an online Pictionary (you should try it) with my friends and it starts in a few minutes. That will be fun.
The last thing, I’ll write to you today, that as soon as we adapt and see the bright sides of little things, the confinement will not be so hard to live. And, of course, keep the physical activity (I know you can’t, this will be my personal advice ????)
That’s all for now.
