Six months ago, Luisa Klein didn’t know the Universiade. Therefore she had to google it. After an internship at German University Sport Association (ADH) she is connected with the University sport. Now, Luisa finished her internship. She looked to look back and speak about six special months.

“In University sport you must work with students and full time employees. It’s an interesting mix”, says Luisa. The former Rower from Gießen collected several experiences during her time in office. In the last six months she worked at ADH and supported the association during the Summer-Universiade in Taipei. “I had to do a lot of administrative tasks. It started with the team’s accreditation and ended with the team’s outfit”, Luisa explains. During the preparation she had to handle stress situations. But with every new situation she learned a lot. “I developed myself in the last six months. Now I can handle stress situations better and stay calmer. This will help me during my study and my job in future”, the student from Germany says.



Luisa’s highlight was the Summer-Universiade. There she supported the German office. “I was very excited to get in touch with all the people. I communicated with them via mail and phone before. But in Taipei, I had the chance to know them personally”, Luisa says. Although she participated in Juniors World Championships in rowing in the past, she was overwhelmed by the Universiade. Especially the opening ceremony was an extraordinary moment. “I felt like a star. All people in the stadium clapped their hands and screamed. It was unbelievable and a special feeling to go in the stadium together with the German team”, the former rower looks back. During the competitions she was surprised by the positive atmosphere in the team. “The athletes enjoyed the time in Taipei. They had good competition without a lot of pressure. This was the main difference between the Universiade and World Championships. It was a pleasure to work with them”, Luisa says. Beside her time in office, Luisa had the chance to visit some competitions. Her personal highlight was the javelin final. Cheng Chao-Tsun from Chinese Taipei and Andreas Hofmann from Germany showed an extraordinary competition and improved the Universiade-Record several times. In the end Chao-Tsun won gold. “It was incredible to watch this competition in the stadium. The whole crowd was focused by this event and the athletes’ performance”, Luisa describes.



After her time in Taipei and at ADH, Luisa Klein is connected with university sport. She used her internship to collect important soft skills and experiences for her future. She wants to continue her way in university sport on local, national or international level. “From the first day on, I worked together with very nice people. It was an enjoyable atmosphere during my time in office. Hence I look forward to stay in contact with my new friends”, says Luisa. And if someone asks her: “What is the Universiade?” she won’t use Google anymore.
