Val di Zoldo preparation visit for EUSA Winter Championships
Less than 2 weeks before the inaugural edition of the European Universities Winter Championships, which will be held in Val di Zoldo, Dolomites between December 18 and 21, the final preparation visit was held on-site on December 6 and 7.
European University Sports Association (EUSA), rights holder of the event, was represented by EUSA Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik, Sports Manager Miha Zvan, Education and Development Manager Sara Rozman and Communications and Projects Manager Andrej Pisl.
The delegation was welcomed by representatives of the local organising committee, lead by CUS Venezia President Massimo Zanotto. The delegation was also was welcomed by the Mayor of Val di Zoldo Camillo De Pellegrin, who assured the support of the local community for organisation of the event.
The preparatory visit started at the municipal multi-purpose hall in Fusine, which will be used as the venue for welcome point and registration on December 17; as well as for General Technical Meeting (GTM) on December 18 and EUSA Winter Forum on December 20.
The Civetta Mountain and its ski slopes will be used for the competitions in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding and Snow Volleyball; and all of the venues were visited by the delegations.
Participants also inspected the accommodation venues; four hotels will be used to house over 200 participants of the European Universities Winter Championships, taking part in 3 sports and educational events.
Other operational areas were also discussed, and agreements finalised for the first ever EUSA winter event.
The event is supported by the local community and partners, as well as by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) and co-funded by the European Union.
