University Sports Workshop in Tirana

On the second day of their stay in Albania, EUSA President Mr Alberto Gualtieri and Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik were invited to the University Sports Workshop for the representatives of Albanian Universities that was held at the University of Sports of Tirana.

The participants were welcomed by the Rector of the University of Sport Prof. Dr. Vejsel Rizvanolli. After that the floor was given to the President of the Albanian Students Sports Association (ASSA) Prof. As. Dr. Fatos Gjata, who presented the projects of the organisation of university sport on the national level and organisation of the national university games. The games are to be held for the first time since 1989, when the last edition was organised in Tirana.

Discussions

Mr Gualtieri and Mr Pecovnik presented the structure and activities of EUSA, especially the details on the 2011 European Universities Championships and the European Universities Games, to be held for the first time in 2012 in Cordoba. The participants also showed great interest in the EUSA Students Volunteer Program.

After a fruitful debate, all the participants were invited to the newly built university sports hall, where they could enjoy watching the university volleyball tournament.

At the end of their visit to Albania, EUSA President thanked the ASSA President for the invitation and presented him the EUSA Plaquette. Mr Gjata expressed his hope to welcome Mr Gualtieri and Mr Pecovnik again on the occasion on the 1st Albanian Universiade to be held in May 2011.
