Romanian Schools and Universities Sports Federation (FFSU) and Student Sport Romania organised a University Sport Conference in Bucharest on January 21, 2016. European University Sports Association (EUSA) was also represented at the event, with EUSA President and Secretary General as one of the speakers.

The traditional conference, hosted in the Aula Magna of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, started with the Gaudeamus Igitur university anthem, sung live by soprano singer Ms Diana Alexe.



The conference featured two panels and was moderated by Mr Constantin Caliman, Deputy Director of the Romanian Schools and Universities Sports Federation and Mr Constantin Caliman, Daniel Tandreu, Secretary General of Student Sport.



The first panel was held in Romanian and was devoted to the situation of university sport in Romania, with the panel of speakers including the Rector of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies Mr Pavel Nastase, Ms Andreea Raducan, President of the Romanian Olympic Foundation, President of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee Mr Alin Petrache, representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sport and other guests.



The second panel was held in English, and focused on international aspects and possibilities for university sport. EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek, EUSA Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Professor at the Harward University Mr Marian Stas, and President of the CAESAR Foundation Mr Sebastian Burduja discussed different models of university sport in Europe and overseas.



The conference also featured open discussion where participants showed interest in European University Sport and experiences in EU-funded projects where EUSA is partner in.



University Sport Conference in Romania was attended also by several EUSA Executive Committee members and staff, as the EUSA Executive Committee meeting was held in Bucharest on January 22 and 23. Prior to the start of the conference, the Rector of the University Mr Pavel Nastase hosted a special reception for the EUSA delegation.
