May 2 was the deadline for submitting the candidatures for the 2017 Winter and Summer Universiades to the International Universities Sports Federation (FISU).

For the 2017 Summer Universiade, three candidatures from Kocaeli (TUR), Brasilia (BRA) and Taipei City (TPE) were received and for the 2017 Winter Universiade, two candidatures from the cities of Trento (ITA) and Almaty (KAZ).

On May 18th, 2011, the candidate cities will be invited to Brussels to participate in a workshop and the Games will be attributed in November 2011. For more information, please see
