TUSF elects new President

On the occasion of the 6th General Assembly of the Türkiye University Sports Federation (TUSF) held on November 4, 2024, in Ankara, the new president of the federation was elected. 

During the Assembly, 184 delegates submitted their votes for a new Executive Committee. With 119 votes, the Rector of Bayburt University, Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen was elected as the new President of the Türkiye University Sports Federation for the upcoming term. 

Dr. Türkmen is the first one from the sports sciences field who was appointed as a rector of a state university in Türkiye. Besides that, he was the president of the Türkiye Bocce Bowling and Darts Federation for 3 respective terms and resigned for bidding the presidency of TUSF a short while ago. 

He has been the president of the International Bocce Confederation (CBI) since 2018 and was reelected for another 4-year cycle on the 26th of October 2024. CBI is an international sports federation that is one of the three founders of the World Petanque and Boules Federation (WPBF), an IOC-recognized organization. 

He was elected as the first vice president of International Darts Federation (IDF) on the 18th of September 2023. He took many other responsibilities in international sports organizations, such as TAFISA, CSIT, and CIJM. Dr. Türkmen practiced Taekwondo and Badminton for very long years and participated in various national and international tournaments as an athlete and coach.

Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen, who made a thank-you speech after the election, said, “I would like to thank our community for the attention shown. We will always move forward with a positive approach and good dialogue. I would like to state that our door is always open as the Turkish University Sports Federation.”

Besides his election, the activity report prepared by TÜSF and previously published on its website, the board of directors' account report, the estimated budgets and activities for 2025-2026 were unanimously acquitted and approved.
