Synathlon building stone-laying ceremony

Stone Laying Ceremony at the site of the Synathlon building in Lausanne was held on April 20, 2016. The Synathlon building will unite four organisations: International University Sports Federation (FISU), ThinkSport, the Institute of Sports Science of the University of Lausanne (ISSUL) and the International Academy for Sports Science and Technology (AISTS).

From January 2018, the organisations will occupy individual workspaces, offices and meeting rooms and share access to a central hub of communal spaces, including an auditorium, classrooms and a cafeteria. FISU’s current headquarters are in the Maison du Sport International in Lausanne.

FISU President Matytsin

FISU President Mr Oleg Matytsin participated in the ceremony which will become the new home of FISU’s headquarters. In his speech Mr Matytsin outlined the purpose of the Synathlon building and praised the project’s key stakeholders:
“This building will unite education, university sport and sport science and technology under one roof. In this way, it is more than just a building; it is a monument to the idea that athletes should always be able to pursue ‘dual careers’. The Synathlon will help athletes pursue sporting and intellectual goals side-by-side in an environment that promotes fair play, ethics and good governance,” FISU President Mr Matytsin said.
