Supervision visit in Rotterdam
The EUSA Supervision Commission for the 2014 European Universities Games visited Rotterdam, the Netherlands from January 16-19, 2013. The aim of the visit was the supervision of the preparation for organisation of the Games which will be held next July in Rotterdam.
EUSA Supervision Commission Chair Mr Kemal Tamer and Members Mr Arie Rosenzweig, Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and Mr Patrik Perosa held several meetings with the representatives of the Organising Committee, and they inspected some sports and accommodation facilities as well.
The meetings were held at the Topsport centre Rotterdam and at the Erasmus University, where the EUG2014 Headquarters are located and from where the 2nd European Universities Games are being coordinated.
The Organising Committee Chair Mr Daniel Sikkens and Tournament Director Mr Henk Smit, together with rest of the responsible managers in different areas presented the EUSA representatives the Progress Report on organisation of the event, together with some proposed modifications in the program. Present on the meeting was also Ms Hester de Vrijes, the representative of the Studentensport Nederland.
After a full day of discussion on the report, the Supervision Commission visited the facilities at the Topsport Rotterdam, where the finals of the several sports will take place. On the second day of the visit, the commission inspected several facilities at the Erasmus University Campus, where the big majority of the participants will be accommodated. The campus is being renovated and with having ready newly build accommodation building and several service facilities by September this year, when Erasmus University starts its 100-years celebration.
The Supervision Committee will present its findings and recommendations to the EUSA Executive Committee, which meets in Zagreb on January 25-26, 2013.
