Supervision Commission meeting in Rotterdam
The organisers of the European Universities Games 2014 hosted the EUSA Supervision Commission meeting between May 25 and 27, 2014 in Rotterdam.
The purpose of the meeting was to finalise the arrangements and checking that all the requirements are met for the 2nd edition of the European Universities Games, which will take place between July 35 and August 8 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The event will feature 10 core sports and a series of accompanying activities and programme.
European University Sports Association (EUSA) was represented by the supervision commission delegates, members of the Executive Committee and the Office, with Mr Kemal Tamer as the Chair of the Commission, Mr Arie Rosenzweig; EC member; Ms Abosede Ajayi, Medical Commission member; Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary General; Mr Patrik Perosa, Sports Manager and Mr Andrej Pisl, Communications and Projects Manager.
They were welcomed by the representatives of the Organising Committee and the staff, lead by Mr Henk Smit, the tournament director of the event and also Roffa, the mascot of the EUGames 2014. The main topics of discussions were the protocol and the ceremonies, communication, press relations, educational events, cultural programme and other side events. Special focus was given on the topics of accommodation, catering, sports, volunteers and accreditation. Medical service and assistance, security and transport issues were also carefully reviewed, in order to assure smooth running of the event this summer.
The supervision commission meeting will be followed by the meeting of the coordinator of the national university sports associations the next day.
