Super Rugby League launched in the UK

British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) with the backing of England Rugby - Rugby Football Union (RFU) has launched its new rugby union league, called ‘BUCS Super Rugby’. The new league will see the top 8 men’s teams in the country battle it out for the right to go head-to-head in the final, held at Twickenham next year.

The league was launched at the Twickenham stadium with a media day that included the coaches and captains of the competing universities. The teams featured in the league will be University of Bath, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Durham University, University of Exeter, Hartpury College, Leeds Beckett University, Loughborough University and Northumbria University.



The first matches took place on Wednesday 5th October, with great attendance figures. The league has also been given its own brand, website, social media channels, and it will also feature live web streaming.
