Students' involvement in EUSA

Students are welcome in the European University Sports Association (EUSA) not only as athletes in the European Universities Championships, European Universities Games and other events, but also as volunteers or members of committees and in other bodies. While all positions in EUSA structures are open for students, some activities are focused for students only.

EUSA sports competitions

For students to compete in the sporting events, where they represent their University, they have to contact their National University Sport Associations. This year, 15 European Universities Championships are organised in different cities across Europe in Badminton, Basketball, Beach-Volleyball, Bridge, Football, Futsal, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Rowing, Rugby 7s, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis and Volleyball. Registration for some events is still open. For details, please see http://www.eusa.eu/en/events/championships/2011

EUSA volunteers

The Volunteer programme is organised during the European Universities Championships and European Universities Games, and gives students the possibilities to be involved in organisation of EUSA events, in partnership with the local organising committees. If you or your student sport institution are planning to organise an international sport event, we highly recommend you join European University Sport Association’s training course and gain valuable experience. Student Commission Members (previous mandate)

Within EUSA structure, the Student Commission (EUSA STC) is a vital part of the organisation. The Student Commission consists of eight members, is gender balanced, and its members come from different European countries. Among other activities, EUSA STC is expected to take active part in the volunteer programme and promote the work of volunteers on the European Universities Championships and Games, develop informal and formal contacts particularly to the European student organisations in close cooperation with the EUSA office. The mandate of the student commission is two years, and four members change at a time. The candidates are nominated by their National University Sport Federations, and the STC is currently composed of Olga Doktorova (RUS) as the Chair and Bruno Barracosa (POR), Isabel Collischonn (SUI), Kaisa Myllylä (FIN), Nermin Potur (BIH), Zoltan Rakaczki (HUN), Maria Rubach (NOR), Aikaterini Zompanaki (GRE) as members. Students also play a crucial role in the project European Anti-Doping Initiative (EADIn), aimed at establishing an European-wide Anti-Doping mentality in the youth sector by establishing a moral tenor towards concepts such as Fair-play, sensitizing and raising awareness on all levels of the complex social environment surrounding the doping problematic and implementing strategies to motivate young people to pass on the message and create a strong multiplying effect. Six students have been nominated as the national ambassadors, who will also attend the European Anti-Doping Camp in Burghausen in June 2011: Aikaterini Zompanaki (GRE), André Rasteiro (POR), Jan Druzina (SLO), Tjasa Hojnik (SLO), Luka Rukavina (CRO) and Louanne Caruana (MLT). http://www.eusa.eu/en/projects/anti-doping
