For 24 years at the beginning of the holidays The Student Sport Festival starts in Wilkasy, on the Mazurian Lakes in Poland. The main idea of this event is to spend a free time on fun, relax and sport among the young colleagues and members of AZS.

This year about hundred students and graduates from whole country came to Wilkasy. They were divided to five groups representing cities they come from. Every group (composed of men and women) competed in four disciplines: basketball, football, kayak relay and a Great Multidiscipline event, prepared specially for the Festival by a commander of the games (among the competitions were: riding a bike, running with an egg, jumping in a bag). Unfortunately bad weather thwarted plans to play another disciplines floorball and volleyball, but it was a good opportunity to prepare tournaments in table tennis, table football or poker.

 

Although the Festival has to serve fun and entertainment, some students took very seriously participation in games. The most ambitious were representatives of Opole, who were first in three of four disciplines and won a general classification. Second place was for Gdansk and Szczecin, representatives of seaside cities, third for students from Wroclaw and Poznan, who played together.

 

“Being on the Festival is the best I can do during the holidays”, said Pawel, student from Wroclaw, who came to Wilkasy for the second time. “I love this unique atmosphere of the Festival and I’m so glad that I can meet friends from whole Poland, talk to them and compete. We have not many occasions to meet in one place and time during the year, so participating in this event is so valuable.”

 

Traditional cake battle between participants has finished 24th Student Sport Festival in Wilkasy, next occasion to meet – on March in Zieleniec in the mountains, during the winter Festival.
