The European Universities Games 2024 are coming in less than 100 days, to be held from 12-24 of July in the two great cities of Debrecen and Miskolc, representing the biggest University sport event this summer!

Since the excitement for the next edition of the games in Hungary is getting higher and higher, and the promotional activities are going in a great flow, this is a small recap of the important moments related to the upcoming European Universities Games 2024, spotlighting different parts. 

The month of April was started with the 100 days countdown to EUG2024! During this month, various promotional activities took place in Hungary and continued to take place on all the social media platforms related to the European Universities Games 2024 to be held in Debrecen and Miskolc, this July!

Sport by sport, the disciplines that will take place in Miskolc or Debrecen, started to be promoted.  Information regarding the dates, place and venues are available, boosting the excitement among the student-athletes that will be competing in their respective disciplines: futsal, football, handball, badminton, table tennis, para table tennis and beach handball to be held in Debrecen and volleyball, chess, judo, kickboxing, karate, taekwondo, basketball, tennis, water polo and beach volleyball to be held in Miskolc. 

End of April was also the deadline to apply to become a volunteer during the Games. In that spirit, a great testimonials of past and future volunteers was shared inviting young people to join this great summer event, through their personal stories. 

April was also the month where new » More than Athletes « campaign videos were shared!

This time Fabian Gadus shared with us the importance to have sports and studies in his life, as such both can support each other, and that the impact of basketball, his sport is also very beneficial for his studies and his daily life for his health.

Luca Kozak, specialist of the 100m hurdles shared memories of her previous sport competition with the university of Debrecen and the pride to represent her university. She shared the invition to join her for the Games and to take the opportunity to gain lifetime of experience and friendship. For her, events like the European Unviersities Games are a good opportunity to learn about the other cultures and discover new sports.

Anna Sztankovics, graduated from the University of Miskolc and a former swimmer, revoked some memories of her experience as athlete, the benefits of her studies in her life and the importance of having a good balance. With great pride, she shared the importance of her victory during the previous European Universities Games in 2022 in Lodz.

During the month of April, a series of promotional events and moments happened in Hungary:

The European Universities Games 2024 have been presented at the career fair and exhibition, the Career Fest, that has been held at the University of Miskolc. This event is held annually since 1996, primarily for candidates of the University of Miskolc and graduate job seekers. This is the oldest job fair in the region, contributing each time to the development of job seekers' skills, the discovery of talents, and the expansion of placement opportunities. Since this is more than an event, the EUG couldn't be left off the list of exhibitors. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the event, and of course, we actively collected registrations from volunteers as well!

The Beer Tent is the largest event of the Technical University of Debrecen, where entertainment is primarily the focus, but the organizers also prepare various side events. The promotional setup for EUG 2024 was also part of this framework. Participants could test their reaction time, balance, and memory through the organised activities. Similar tent promotional athmosphere was also done at the University of Obuda Sports day. 

The Medikus Cup is an event that brings together student athletes from the four medical universities in the country every year. This year marked the 51st edition of the event, featuring five different sports. Like the Beer Tent, same three games were offered mainly aiming to reach students studying in the healthcare field. Promotional activities were done during the Basketball Student Championships, University of Miskolc Open Day and during the Central European Universities Championships. 

A larger promotional setup is planned to be part of the MEFOB Festival and the University Days of Miskolc/Miskolc City Day in the near future, with range of events continuously being expanded and the excitement for the largest European university sport event, building higher day by day.
