EUSA Sports Manager Mr Adam Roczek visited EUSA Office in Ljubljana for a working meeting on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Mr Roczek met with Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary General, Mr Andrej Pisl, Communications Manager and Mr Valentin Dupouey, Project Assistant to discuss sport-related topics within the organisation and its activities.

The status of the European Universities Championships has been analysed, with special attention given to this year’s events and the next championships in 2013. In 2011, 14 European Universities Championships have been successfully organised so far, and the anticipated number of participants at the championships this year will exceed 3500, representing a new record for European university sport.

Sports working meeting at EUSA Office

An important topic was also the European Universities Games, as the first edition will take place next year in June in Cordoba, Spain. The Games are a new multi-sports event for students, licensed by the European University Sports Association, offering 10 sports. It will be organised on a bi-annual basis, with the 1st Games in 2012 and the second Games in 2014. The host of the 2nd European Universities Games will be announced end of November, with Rotterdam and Wroclaw being the official candidate cities.

The meeting was also part of the preparation for the upcoming EUSA Executive Committee meeting, which is to take place in St Gallen, Switzerland on September 24, 2011.
