The University of Miskolc Sports Office organised the XXIII University of Miskolc Sports Day on 20th of September, as part of the celebrations of the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) and promotion of the European Universities Games Debrecen-Miskolc 2024.

 

The event was organised on the occasion of the celebrations of the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) on September 20, an occurrence that aims to create links between universities and their local communities through sport, physical activity, and healthy living.

In order to increase the participation rate, the University of Miskolc organised an event full of sporting activities, demonstrations and surprise challenges at its Sports Centre.

For Miskolc and Debrecen, which will host the EUSA European Universities Games (EUG) between 12-24 July 2024, the year started this summer will be a "YEAR OF SPORT" that will lead to the largest student multisport event in Europe.

The cities will offer a number of opportunities for university citizens to get involved in the organisation process and be part of a unique event, with internship programmes, volunteering activities with credit transfer and exciting additional events.

This year XXIII University of Miskolc Sports Day was then all about the next EUG.
A so-called "EUG Fun fair" space was set up, with a bean bag chill zone, photo and temporary tattoos corners, social challenges and prize games.

All the participants had the possibility of playing matches of basket shooting, table tennis, teqvolley or enjoying inflatable games. The focus point in the center of all the event activities was the EUG Info tent, where the EUSA Exhibition was set.

A special institutional moment was organised for the university and project leaders, celebrating the beginning of this 2023/24 Year of Sport at the University of Miskolc.

Culminating with the EUG 2024 this Year of Sport marks a major institutions collaboration, as the key to its successful implementation is the full cooperation of all stakeholders involved: an event as the European University Games could not be realised without investments and improvements in dormitories, sports and other infrastructure, the full support of the management of the University of Miskolc and the City of Miskolc, the commitment of the Board of the University of Miskolc Athletics and Football Club, the EUG 2024 local project office staff, the conscientious preparation of our athletes and the conscientious work of all current and future volunteers.

To celebrate this common purpose and commitment, all the guests representative of this fellowship where invited to place a symbolic letter of the Year of Sport on the huge board of the Sports Centre: this board will be displayed and carried around the University campus, alongside the EUSA Exhibition.
