Special EUSA Promotion of Sport Climbing and EWOS

During the Executive Committee Meeting in Hannover, special promotion activities were organised not only to promote the European Universities Rowing Championship, which will be hosted in the city in September, but also the first edition of the Sport Climbing Championship, to be held in August in Katowice, and the first edition of the European Week of Sport (EWOS).

Representatives of the local hosts, EUSA Technical Delegates, EUSA Staff and EUSA Executive Committee took part in the trial lessons of Sport Climbing at the University Sports Center in Hannover. They were able to climb several courses on the over 12m high climbing wall.

Sport climbing is an increasingly popular sport in Europe, also among students, so special invitation goes to them to register for the European Universities Sport Climbing Championship, which will be held in cooperation with the local Organising Committee, European University Sports Association (EUSA), the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) and the local partners between August 5 and 9, 2015 in the Polish city of Katowice.

University teams may be composed between two to six athletes each, consisting of students age 17 to 30. The tournament will be based on the 3 IFSC Sport Climbing Official Disciplines: Speed, Boulder and Lead. For details, please see www.climbing2015.pl.

As Hannover will be the one of the focal points of the EUSA activities related to the European Week of Sport (EWOS) and the #BeActive Campaign, the discussions with the local organisers, as well as demonstration of activities was very appreciated and enjoyed by all participants.
