Snow party - Winter student event in SLO

Past weekend Slovenian University Sports Association (SUSA), together with partners organised the national university championships in Alpine skiing and Snowboarding. The championships are organised under the Winter festival of student sports, also known as the Snow party.

Over 100 student athletes from four Slovenian universities participated in the event. Students competed in Giant Slalom for the titles of national university champions. The event also served as the qualifications for the 25th Winter Universiade, which is to take place in January 2011 in Turkey. The winners will therefore be able to participate in the Winter University Games in Erzurum.

 

Alpine skiing

At the same time, the meeting of Slovenian university professors, with a race in Alpine skiing took place in Kranjska gora, Slovenia on March 6, 2010.

 



Both sporting events were held in clear and sunny weather, and after the competition an entertainment programme with DJ, prize-drawing and official medal award ceremony was organised. In the evening, the participants could enjoy a concert of the band Dubioza kolektiv.

The main purpose of the event is to combine sports and recreation with entertainment and social aspect of bringing together students from across Slovenia, and also professors at the universities. The Festival was organised under SUSA trademark Zdrava zabava (Healthy fun), aiming at increasing student participation in sport and recreation. It was also a great opportunity to additionally promote the Winter Universiade Maribor 2013 among students.
