SHARE 2.0 COP on Funding focuses on LIFE programme

European Commission's initiative SHARE 2.0 started the second round of online Community of Practice (COP) capacity-building events; the first in the row was on EU Funding, with a special focus on the LIFE programme.
The first thematic online event of the year was held on January 6, 2024. It was attended by several Community of Practice members, expanding their knowledge on funding opportunities in the field of sport and hear about good practice examples. It was also an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with the community. Although Sport has its focus in Erasmus+ Programme, several other programmes exists where sport actions and initiatives can also be supported, especially if sport is used as a tool to successfully address the priorities of the specific programmes.
After the opening words, the first speaker Geraldine Nee, Project Adviser from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), shared an EU funding opportunity for sustainability in sport through the LIFE Programme.
As the sole EU programme dedicated exclusively to the environment, nature conservation and climate action, the programme does not primarily focus on sport, but allows supporting long-term initiatives also in the field. Some good practice examples have already implemented, especially those linked to circular economy and nature.
Also two projects funded by the LIFE programme were presented as inspiration, starting with Recycle your boots project by Marco Meggiolaro from Technica Grop; followed by Life Green Pitches by Emily Even from the Municipality of Amsterdam.
Discussion in small groups was also organised, and participants had a chance to ask questions to the contributors, as well as discuss the opportunities and experiences.
