Seminar on Development of Asian University Sport 2014
On November 4, the Seminar on the Development of Asian University Sports was held in Fu Jen Catholic University in New Taipei City. The main theme of the Seminar was ‘Present and Future Trend in the Development of Asian Activity’ with 3 sub-themes, namely, ‘New Brain of University Sports in Curriculum and Teaching’, the ‘Importance of the Promotion and Development of University Sports Activity’, and ‘Study of Physical and Healthy Lifestyle for College Students’.
In the Opening Ceremony, the President of the Organizing Committee, the President of Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation and Fu Jen Catholic University, Mr Han-Sun Chiang addressed the participants and audience. AUSF President Mr Xinsheng Zhang in his speech reviewed the history of AUSF, mentioned the inevitable role of sports in education and wished the first AUSF Seminar a big success.
The Opening Ceremony followed the keynote presentation by Mr Kun-Ning Chen, AUSF Vice-President and Vice-President of National Pingtung University. He elaborated on the AUSF situation, including the structure, members, purpose, the organizational structure and AUSF’s role in promoting physical education in Asia. Mr Sen-Fang Huang, Associate Professor and Director of Physical Education Center of Tzu Chi University in Chinese Taipei clarified several definitions in Physical Education field, addressing controversial questions and tried to provide solutions.
In the afternoon Session, Mr Woong Yong Ha, AUSF Auditor and Professor of Korea National Sport University, shared the practice in Korea and USA. He made a creative and prospective thought on the AUSF’s future development, including finding more potential sponsors, exploring more cooperation opportunities with relative International Sport Federations, etc. The audiences marvelled at the developed university sports system and appreciated the constructive study by Mr Ha. Mr Mahdi Talebpour, AUSF assessor and Professor of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, shared the background that nowadays, living in a modern industrial society results in many physical and psychological problems. He pointed out that the unhealthy lifestyle was the main reason for severe diseases and suggested that university students should control stress, eat right, exercise regularly, rest mind and spirit, get variety in life and be positive.
The seminar was not just for discussing but also for building up the connection within different countries and regions in Asia. The Seminar on the Development of Asian University Sports 2014 was filled with expanding visions, friendship, and left unforgettable memories to all the participants.
