SAIF’s International Seminars

SAIF’s International Seminars

In the spring of 2013, the Swedish University Sports Federation (SAIF) has organized two seminars with the aim to increase the knowledge for board members concerning international work in general and how things work in FISU in particular.

The first day in February focused on international work in general with speakers from the Swedish Sports Confederation, SAIF Secretary General, Mr Josef Åhman, SAIF senior boardmember, Mr Erwin Apitzsch, with a vast experience in international sports politics and our Head of communications, Mr Anders Manell, who gave a presentation about international campaigning in politics.

The second and final seminar was held at the FISU headquarters in Lausanne. With speakers like Mr Stefan Bergh, Vice President of FISU, on his experiences from FISU and Mr Paulo Ferreira, Director of WUC at FISU. Mr Anders Rönmark, journalist and son of the FISU Honorary Member and Mr Walter Rönmark, gave a lecture on the history of the IOC.

The seminars have been very much appreciated by the participants and play an important role in SAIF’s long-term strategic work within international university sports. SAIF organizes the European Universities Badminton Championship and the FISU Rectors’ Forum this year. In 2014, SAIF will organize the first World University Championship in American Football.
