RYSE training for sports educators held in Glasgow

As part of the RYSE project, LEAP Sports Scotland hosted a training for sports educators, focusing on the needs of LGBTIQ+ youth. The training was held in Glasgow on Saturday, October 19, followed by partners meeting and evaluation the following day. The event offered information about the subject and included various workshops on the topics of Terminology, Gendered Sport, Language, Changing Rooms, Consequences, and Statement of Inclusion. EUSA was represented at the event by its Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl.

Rainbow Youth for Sporting Equality (RYSE) is a multilateral European project aimed to improve experiences for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer young people in sport by creating training for sports educators on LGBTIQ+ issues and experiences in sport.

Workshops

RYSE project is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union and is being ran by three partners: LEAP Sports Scotland (GBR), European University Sports Association through the EUSA Institute (SLO) and Queer Sport Split (CRO). The project started by speaking with young people who outlined what they expect from an inclusive and non-discriminatory sports environment, and that information was used as a basis to create the Rainbow Sports Charter. The training for youth sports educators tested how the charter could be implemented in educational and sports environment, and the feedback will be used to develop an online training module that can be accessed by sports educators across Europe for free.
