On December 11, 2017 Russian Students Sport Union (RSSU) supported by the Presidential Executive Office and the Moscow Government, organized the fifth GALA ceremony “University Sport Stars” in the State Central Concert Hall “Rossia”.

On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Mr Vladimir Putin, the Aid to the President of the Russian Federation and Vice-President of the Russian Olympic Committee Mr Igor Levitin welcomed the guests and organizers of the GALA.



The opening ceremony was attended also by the Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Ms Natalya Parshikova; Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Mr Sergey Kosilov; Head of the Department of Physical Fitness and Sport Mr Nikolay Gulyaev, FISU President Mr Oleg Matytsin and President of the Russian Students Sport Union Mr Sergey Seyranov.



One of the main guests were the winners of the international and national university sports competitions, heads and representatives of local sports and educational authorities, national sports federations, students sport leagues, delegations from the universities, the rector's community, national sports legends.



The ceremony of initiation of well-known Russian athlete — USSR Merited Master of Sports, Olympic champion, World champion, 4-time European champion, 7-time USSR champion  and the basketball legend Sergey Tarakanov — to the Winter Universiade 2019 Ambassador attracted much attention of the occasion participants and guests.



“Burevestnik” awards were presented in 7 nominations among which are the best student-athlete and teams at the XXVIII Winter Universiade and XXIX Summer Universiade, best university, best sport project, for significant contribution to the development of university sports movement, RSSU partners.



The award ceremony was combined with bright performances of the Russian pop and dance artists.
