Rijeka welcomes EUSA Executive Committee

On Friday, June 3, special meetings and receptions were held in Rijeka for the Executive Committee Members of the European University Sports Association (EUSA).

The newly elected EUSA Executive Committee was first greeted in the City Hall by the Mayor of the City of Rijeka Mr Vojko Obersnel. Mr Obersnel greeted all the guests and expressed his happiness that Rijeka is one of the two hosting cities of the 3rd European Universities Games which will be held between July 12 and 25 in Croatian cities Zagreb and Rijeka.

EUSA members also visited the Rectorate of the University Rijeka, where there were met by the Rector Mr Pero Lucin and the Vice-Rector Mrs Snjezana Prijic Samarzija. They stressed that the Games are important for the University and their students for several reasons, including the new student dormitories and the development of volunteering.

In addition to the European Universities Games, a special Rectors' Conference will be held on July 12 and 13 at the University of Rijeka, primarily focused on university sports, with special emphasis on dual careers and development of sports at the universities and the status of student athletes in higher education.

EUSA Executive Committee members will be meeting in Rijeka on June 3 and 4, 2016, discussing the work plans of European University Sports Association, its events and projects. The members will return to Croatia in a month, for the largest university sport event in Europe - the European Universities Games.
