Promising outlooks for EUC Futsal 2011
The Organizing Committee of the 8th European Universities Futsal Championship, which will be held in July 2011 in Tampere, Finland is already working actively in order to start all the relevant preparations for the tournament.
-It has been a hectic start of a year so far as we have successfully reached agreements with main partners and got both the Organizing Committee and the Executive Committee to action, Jussi Kuusela, the President of the Organizing Committee, states.
Agreements between the Futsal Club Johtajat - the main organizer of the event - and other important bodies such as Finnish Student Sports Federation and Tampere University of Technology as well as its Student Union were signed after the first Organizing Committee meeting in February. In the meeting itself the members of the Executive Committee were nominated. Recently it was also confirmed that Mr. Sauli Niinistö, the President of the Football Association of Finland and the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, accepted the invitation to be a Patron for the Championship.
In the end of March FC Johtajat hosted the Finnish Student Championship in Futsal. The tournament was once again a success with 30 participating teams in three categories. Many national futsal league players showed their talent in the Championship and finally it was FC Kampuksen Dynamo from the University of Jyväskylä which took the gold medals. In women’s tournament the skillful ladies representing the University of Oulu were crowned as champions. Both teams will travel to Zagreb in July for the EUC Futsal 2010 where the women’s tournament is scheduled for the first time ever.
The official website of the EUC Futsal 2011 has already been opened. News and information about the championship will be published at http://www.eucfutsal2011.com as well as in Facebook and Twitter. The main organizers are getting prepared for the Zagreb games, where they will get to know the arrangements of the event by detail and promote the next year’s event. The Secretary General of the Organizing Committee Matti Anttonen is already excited about the event at Zagreb:
-The organizers of the Zagreb event showed great enthusiasm towards their forthcoming championship in Montenegro last year and promoted it in many ways. We are looking forward to do the same this year in Zagreb.
The outcomes for this year's championship in Zagreb are also very promising, as the men's competition is already full, with the 16 teams. At the same time, the first women's competition also looks promising, with 8 teams to compete.
