President of EUSA visits EUC venues in Hungary
After attending the General Assembly of the Hungarian University Sports Federation (HUSF) and the reception in Budapest, Mr Adam Roczek, President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) paid a visit to the venues of next European Universities Championships in Hungary.
On February 27, Mr Roczek visited Godollo and the Szent Istvan University with Mr Balazs Bohm, Secretary General of the Hungarian Rugby Union and Adam Kiss, President of HUSF. Mr Kalman Figler, Chancellor of University met the guests to discuss about the European Universities Rugby 7’s Championship and to strengthen the partnership and long-term cooperation between the stakeholders. The EUSA Rugby 7’s event will be organized by the Hungarian Rugby Union in Gödöllő between July 22 and 26, 2015.
The visit of Mr Roczek continued to Miskolc afterwards, where he met Mr Gyorgy Kovacs, Deputy Secretary-General of HUSF and Mr Zoltan Rakaczki, Executive Director of the University Athletic and Football Club of Miskolc (MEAFC). Main focus of the discussion was the European Universities Basketball Championship in 2017, which will be hosted by the University of Miskolc. The city will host also the World University Orienteering Championship in 2016.
Mr Roczek attended on a lunch together with Dr Janos Kiss, Vice Mayor of Miskolc. Dr Kiss emphasized, their aim is to host more international sports events in Miskolc, and the European Universities Basketball Championship perfectly corresponds with the investments in the development of basketball. He also expressed, it is very important that all the participants (athletes, officials and spectators) experience the hospitality of the city and learn about its sights and culture.
On the meeting with Mrs Zita Horvath, Vice Rector of the University of Miskolc, Mr Roczek confirmed the good cooperation between the university and the city in the field of sport. EUSA President also highlighted the very important aim of the European Universities Basketball Championship - to strengthen the local community and sport life in the city.
