Preparations for the 2019 Universiades

Although in 2017 the International University Sports Federation (FISU) just celebrated the Winter Universiade in Almaty (KAZ) and Summer Universiade in Taipei (TPE), the preparations for the 2019 editions are underway.

FISU delegation, part of the International Technical Committee (CTI) and Winter Universiade Supervision Committee (CSU), is currently visiting Krasnoyarsk (RUS) for an inspection visit related to the organisation of the 29th Winter Universiade 2019.

The main purposes of the visit are to inspect the venues for compliance with the international requirements for holding sports competitions which are included in the Winter Universiade 2019 programme and an assessment of the key preparation areas. Apart from that, FISU representatives need to approve a number of important documents: the Winter Universiade 2019 sports programme, the schedule of test events and a list of the equipment required for the venues.

Naples - Napoli Summer Universiade 2019

Earlier this month, FISU President Oleg Matytsin and Secretary General/CEO Eric Saintrond visited Naples and Rome to discuss the course of preparations for the 30th anniversary edition of the Summer Universiade in Naples (ITA). FISU pledged to work closely with the Organising Committee to invest in efficient and creative solutions. The meetings with Italian authorities gave positive signals, which reflect the understanding of the challenges ahead. "We have an impression that the authorities of the region are not only well-informed about the preparation process, they fully understand the seriousness of the challenge and are committed to act in a quick and efficient manner to solve the existing issues," said FISU President Mr Matytsin.

We are proud that for both editions, the national university sports associations, members of FISU as well as the European University Sports Association (EUSA), play an active role in staging of the events.
