Overview of FISU philately
Earlier in February, FISU published a book Philately Overview of the International University Sport Movement & FISU, depicting philatelic items regarding the International University Sports Movement and the Federation itself. The publication covers the period from 1924 to 2009.
Besides a foreword by its President George E. Killian and Secretary General Eric Saintrond, two avid collectors themselves, Luciano Calenda, the authority on the University Sport theme explains the significance of this themed collection. The book is divided into four chapters showing all philatelic materials (stamps, cancellations, stationary etc.) of the main topics, i.e. Pre-Universiade, referring to the period before FISU was established and prior to the first Universiade; the Summer Universiade, which gives an overview of all philatelic items since the first SU in Torino in 1959; the Winter Universiade, depicting all items since the first WU in 1960 and finally all items relating to the World University Championships.
The 214-pages full colour book can aldo be previewed and ordered online.
