Online kick-off meeting for the Fit4Green project

The Fit4Green project, lead by the EUSA Institute and co-funded by the European Union, was officially kicked off with a two-day online meeting held on 26th and 27th of June 2024.

This 18-month project, with the general objective of raising environmental awareness with the help of sport and physical activity, will bring together university sports organisations’ aspirations for more sustainable sport events and educational institutions’ need to fight unsustainable consumption practices at campuses.

The main aims of the project are to raise environmental awareness through sport & physical activity, to promote healthy & eco-conscious lifestyles with young people engagement and to organise green campus campaigns and sport events.

The first day of the kick off meeting was reserved for the individual presentations of the partner organizations, which include EUSA Institute as the coordinator, together with project partners Holztechnikum Kuchl (AUT), University of Ljubljana (SLO), InnovationsManufaktur (GER), NYSA Sweden (SWE) and Latvian University Sports Federation (LAT).

Mr Andrej Pisl, EUSA Projects and Policy Manager, gave the total overview of the project timeline, work packages, planned activities and general partners roles. Divided tasks overview, going hand in hand with the deliverables overview, were as well presented to the partners.

Impact assessment, quantitative indicators and the logistic planning of the meetings that will be held throughout the duration of the project, were discussed.  The partners established the communication channels for easier flow of the project matters, as well.

The last part of the first day of the meeting included a detailed presentation of the financial plan and matters of the project. Grant form, the financing funding rate, partners budget breakdown, important costs, reporting, as well as details regarding keeping the records and documents, were in presented by Ms Katja Dolinšek, EUSA Financial Administrator.

The second day of the kick off project meeting was started with the insightful presentation on the topic of Youth Engagement strategies and implementation steps, presented by NYSA’s representative Mr Owen Southgate.

The day then continued with the inspiration day part, covering interesting ideas and best practices from other projects and activities. Fruitful discussion was raised on the topics, giving constructive comments and sharing personal and working examples of raising environmental awareness through usage of different tools. 

Following on the programme of the second day, Mr Maxime Chusseau presented different principles of sustainability, lowering carbon footprint and the environmental impact of sports events.

The meeting was then wrapped up with a Q&A session, as well as a reflection rounds of the knowledge gained, as well as agreements on the future ideas and activities planned to be implemented witin the Fit4Green Project.
