One month to EUC Rowing 2024 in Zagreb

The preparations for the highly anticipated European Universities Rowing Championship 2024 are in full swing. Scheduled to take place from August 28-31 in Zagreb, Croatia, this prestigious event promises to bring together the best university rowers from across Europe.

The event schedule is meticulously planned, beginning with arrivals and accreditations on August 27, followed by the opening ceremony, training sessions, and a General Technical Meeting on August 28. The competition will span three days, culminating in the final races on August 31, with departures set for September 1. In addition to the excitement of the races, all events will be available for free via live stream on the official YouTube channel of the event.

As the date approaches, the organizing team is working tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the championship is meticulously prepared. From securing top-notch facilities at Lake Jarun to coordinating with volunteers and partners, every detail is being addressed to guarantee a top-tier experience for participants and fans alike.

Zagreb, the vibrant capital of Croatia, is gearing up to host the prestigious European Universities Rowing Championship 2024 from August 28-31 at Lake Jarun. This beautiful venue, renowned for its excellent conditions for rowing, has a rich history of hosting top-tier international sporting events.

Lake Jarun, situated in Zagreb southwest, is not just a picturesque recreational spot but also a prime location for competitive rowing in this part of the Europe. Originally constructed in 1987 in preparation for the 14th Summer Universiade hosted in Zagreb, Lake Jarun has also been a central hub for academic and student sports.

In 2016, it proudly hosted the rowing competitions during the European Universities Games, showcasing its capability to host large-scale sporting events. The Games welcomed athletes from universities across Europe, highlighting Zagreb's capacity to organize and manage international sports gatherings with precision and hospitality.

Moreover, Lake Jarun has a longstanding tradition in university rowing events. In 2008, it was the venue for the 4th EUSA European Universities Rowing Championship, which brought together over 400 student-athletes competing at the highest level. This event further solidified Lake Jarun’s reputation as a preferred venue for rowing competitions in Europe.

For teams requiring boats during the championship, there is an option to rent rowing boats (including a set of oars). These boats, used by local rowing clubs for regattas, are of good quality though not new. The deadline to submit requests for boat rental is August 19, 2024. Teams interested in renting boats can find more information and submit their requests at rowing2024.eusa.eu/competition/boat-rental.

The European Universities Rowing Championship 2024 Organising Committee, in agreement with EUSA, after technical evaluations, made the desicion that the competition will be held over a 2000-meter course.
