Pan American University Sports Federation (ODUPA) hosted its Extraordinary General Assembly on August 10 in Sao Jose dos Campos (BRA), during the 6th World University Rugby Sevens Championship. The Extraordinary General Assembly was attended by representatives of 17 countries and was aimed to revitalise the continental federation and make the necessary changes in order to strenghten it.

The outgoing Executive Committee first presented its report and then tendered its resignation. A transitional committee could thus take over for the next 10 months, until the Elective General Assembly is held in Gwangju (KOR), together with the Summer Universiade.

The transitional committee is composed of the following members:

President: Luciano Cabral (BRA)

1st Vice-President: Delise O’Meally (USA)

Vice-Presidents: Julio Jakob (URU) and Anthony Davis (JAM)

General Secretary: Alberto Gilardoni (PAR)

Treasurer: Rosaura Mendez (CRC)

Auditor: Julio Gueda (MEX)

Northern Region Representative: Gilles Lepine (CAN)

ODUCC Representative: Sonia Stapf Gomez (PAN)

COSUD Representative: Alim Maluf (BRA)

Four committees were created to invigorate the work of ODUPA; namely the Development committee, Marketing and public relations committee, Legal committee and Sports & education committee.

The Assembly was also attended by Mr Stefan Bergh, FISU Vice-President and Mr Shen Zhen from AUSF.
