October EUG2021 online Supervision Commission meeting

Representatives of the European University Sports Association (EUSA) Supervision Commission met online on Wednesday, October 14 with the organisers of the European Universities Games Belgrade 2021 (EUG2021).

The Supervision Commission is chaired by EUSA Executive Committee member Mr Kemal Tamer. The online meeting was also attended by EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek who joined other members of the commission and office staff, all together representing the governing European university sports body. The representatives of the local hosts were led by its Director Mr Predrag Juskovic and included heads of all key departments.

European Universities Games 2021

Following the on-site visit in Belgrade earlier this month, the online meeting started with the overall introduction, followed by a general report given by EUG2021 team, and reports of key sectors, including sport, venues, risk management and medical. The discussion then focused on the procedure protocol for Covid-19 protection prior and during the 5th European Universities Games.

The upcoming edition of the Games will have a big focus on safety and security of all participants and will feature 21 different sporting disciplines in the sports programme: Badminton, Basketball, 3x3 Basketball, Beach Handball, Beach Volleyball, Chess, Football, Futsal, Handball, Judo, Karate, Kickboxing, Orienteering, Rowing, Rugby 7s, Table Tennis (including Para Table Tennis), Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. There will also be a Sitting Volleyball competition as a demonstrative sport. Alongside the sport competitions, the Games will also emphasise educational and social aspects of university sport in Europe, featuring conferences and workshops in the topics of Anti-Doping, Inclusion, Dual Career, as well as a Rectors' Conference.

The 5th edition of the European Universities Games will be held between July 14 and 27, 2021 in Belgrade, Serbia. Registration will reopen on November 1. For more information, please see the official website of the event at www.eug2021.eu.
