November EUSA-NUSA online meeting
On 30 of November, the European University Sports Association hosted an insightful EUSA-NUSA online meeting in form of a webinar, having as the main topic, the upcoming European Universities Winter Championships 2023, the European Universities Games 2023, EU Funding opportunities, as well as relevant updates from the organisation.
The webinar saw over 60 participants from 26 countries, representing National University Sports Associations and partner organisations.
EUSA President Adam Roczek welcomed the participants, thanking them for their support and attendance at the EUSA events this year. He made a short recap of the European Universities Championships season, which will be wrapped up with upcoming inaugural European Universities Winter Championship, taking place in Val di Zoldo, Italy, from December 18-21.
Matjaz Pecovnik, EUSA Secretary General, presented an update with What’s up EUSA, starting with the topics: Bidding for EUC 2027, EUSA EUC Logotype competition, Calls for Student Commission Candidatures, EUSA Associated Members call and EUSA Development Fund. Mr Pecovnik then gave a recap of recent EUSA meetings and activities, including EUSA 25th Anniversary and Conference Working Meeting, Supervision Visit EUG 2024 and the Online Webinar EUG 2028 for Candidate Cities.
Upcoming meetings and events were also presented, giving the spotlight of the Preparatory Visit EUC Winter Val di Zoldo, the Inspection Visit EUC Rowing Istanbul, and the last sporting event of the year – the European Universities Winter Sports Championships 2023 in Val di Zoldo, Dolomites. The participants were also asked to mark their calendars with the main planned events for 2024, as well.
The second address was delivered by EUSA Sports Manager Miha Zvan, who did a presentation of the upcoming European Universities Winter Championships 2023, as well as the European Universities Games 2024, including the sports program and important dates.
Next to present was Aleksandra Andreeva, EUSA Sport Administration Officer, sharing details about the registration process and deadlines. Registration for the next year’s European Universities Games will open on December 15, when also Rules and Regulations and other key information related to the event will be published.
Sharing information about the funding opportunities, with focus on funds available by the European Union, as well as sharing main points of the ESOM project was Andrej Pisl, EUSA Communications and Project Manager. The focus was on the Erasmus+ programme, Preparatory Actions and Pilot projects in the field of Sport, and the European Solidarity Corps.
The presentation of good practice examples started by Marianna Pikul, representative of AZS Poland, giving an overview of the project (Uni)ted forces to support the education of (Uni)versity sport comm(Uni)ty (Uni4S), co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
Reka Molnar, representative of MEFS addressed the participants with another good practice of non-EU funding, as well as EU-funded projects K2S-GenZ and the EUG2024 More than Games project, both co-funded by the European Union.
The online event was also part of the project Enhancing Sport Organisations and Management (ESOM), co-funded by the European Union.
