New sports venue in Poznan

New sports venued are being built in Poznan (POL) – those which were planned at the time when Poznan was bidding to organise one of the summer universiades in 2007, 2009 or 2011, although the Universiade for these years were not attributed to Poznan.

The official opening of “Termy Maltańskie” swimming pools and aqua park took place on Sunday, 16th October. The amenities include a 50m Olympic sized swimming pool along with a diving pool and seating available for 3,900 spectators as well as a leisure area housing aqua park and sauna complex.

Termy Maltanskie complex

This is one of the largest and most modern aquatic facilities in Europe. It is situated on the waterside of Lake Malta, a home to rowing and canoeing course, and only 2 kilometres straight from the Old Market Square.

Indoor swimming pool

The facility was built from the means provided by the city and a bank credit taken by the investor, while the sports area was subsidised by Ministry of Sport and Tourism. Since Monday “Termy Maltańskie” complex has been serving to athletes of the Poznan sports clubs, with special focus on pupils and students, as well as other people from Poznan.
