New opportunities to take part in the EUG2016

Although we just entered to the spring season in Europe, the European Universities Games Zagreb-Rijeka 2016 are getting closer and closer every day. Hrki, the official mascot of the Games, is already very busy, and he expects participants from all over Europe to join him soon.

In the beginning of March, Hrki brought smiles to young and more experienced skiers when he tried skiing on the newly opened ski run Tesanj on Platak.

The campaign of planting 500 new plants around the Jarun Lake symbolically started in mid March. The Mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandic, together with the Minister of Science, Education and Sports, Predrag Sustar, Rector of the University of Zagreb, Damir Boras and President of the European Universities Games Zagreb – Rijeka 2016 (EUG 2016), Zrinko Custonja, planted the first tree.

Planting trees as a sustainable green legacy

Newly planted trees will represent the universities that will participate at the EUG 2016. New trees will also enrich environment around Jarun Lake which will be the official venue for a variety of sports competitions during this multi-sport event.
