New Handball and Futsal Champions
European Universities Games Rotterdam 2014 produced new champions today; namely in handball and futsal.
Handball competitions, which were held in close cooperation with the European Handball Federation (EHF), brough new champions; in women's category the title of the best team was won by the University of Vincent Pol (POL), with University of the South Toulon-Var (FRA) on second and Radboud University Nijmegen (NED) on third place.
In men's handball competition, the final match was very intense until the very end, with the team of University of Minho (POR) winning the first place in the end, with University of Novi Sad (SRB) second and Gazi University (TUR) on third place.
In female futsal competition, the title of the best university team went to the University of Alicante (ESP), winning 4:2 against the State University — Education-Science-Production Complex (RUS), and bronze meddalists were the ladies from the University of Coimbra (POR).
In men's futsal, the team of Vern University of Applied Sciences (CRO) lost in the finals 3:4 to the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne (FRA), who won the title of the Champion and received the gold medals. On third place was the team from Eindhoven University of Technology (NED).
Although we said goodbye to the handball and futsal players today, the Games are only reaching its midpoint. The competitions in tennis and rugby 7s will climax in the finals tomorrow, with rowing starting.
