New board in Finland
The Finnish Student Sports Federation (OLL), held its general assembly at Vierumki Sports Institute in early November. On the agenda was, among other issues, the election of board members for the year 2011.
The federation will be led next year by Lotte Uutinen, a twenty-four years old nursery student from Arcada University of Applied Sciences. Currently Uutinen is a member of executive committee in the Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences.
The new vice presidents are Saila Huhtiranta from Tampere University of Technology and Silva Loikkanen from University of Helsinki. Janne Pakarinen from Unisport Helsinki will continue in board as a representative of University Sport Services.
Opening speech of the general assembly was given by Risto Nieminen, chief executive of national lottery association Veikkaus Ltd. and honorary member of FISU. Nieminen emphasised the importance of participation and enthusiasm in sport and stated that more resources should be directed to practice in fields and arenas instead of paperwork and bureaucracy.
