Montenegro promotes participation of women in sport
The Students Sports Association of Montenegro (SSAM) launched a project entitled “Game Set Move and Play” to promote the participation of women in sports and recreation, focusing mainly on non-competitive sports activities.
A big hiking tour was organised in September in Bjelasica, in which 200 students participated. Over 150 students participated in a biking tour combined with a hiking class and Nordic walking. Drago Vujovic, a famous Montenegrin mountaineer, took part in these activities. By the end of October, tennis, basketball, volleyball and badminton weekends will take place.
The project also involves advice on training, healthy lifestyles and nutrition, made available on the website www.tricetirisad.me and some Montenegrin top athletes are promoting the project as well.
The project is supported and co-funded by the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, National Youth Council and the International University Sports Federation (FISU) through its support scheme to NUSF projects. By working together in close collaboration with public authorities, the main university centres, FISU and other sports stakeholders, SSAM is making an important contribution in favour of women’s empowerment and sport for all.
