Miskolc to host EUSA Badminton and Water Polo in 2023

The city of Miskolc, Hungary, will be the host for two upcoming European Universities Championships, in Badminton and Water Polo. Both events will take place from 13-19 of July, 2023.

On 17th of November, EUSA did an Inspection Visit, represented by EUSA Sports Manager Mr Miha Zvan, Assistant Sport Manager Mr Mariano Carcatella, Technical Delegates for Badminton Mr Radomir Jovovic and Technical Delegate for Water Polo Mr Tamas Kovacs.
The Organzing Committee was represented by Ms Zita Horvath Rector of University of Miskolc, Mr Daniel Porcs Representative of city of Miskolc, President of the OC Mr Zoltan Rakaczki and the Coordinator of the OC Mr Tamas Kasa. Present were also Mr Gyorgy Kovacs and Mr Laszlo Vegh, as NUSA Representatives.

Inspection Visit team meeting with Rector Ms Zita Horvath

The Inspection Visit team, visited University of Miskolc, where they had a meeting with the Rector. Discussing and checking the technical requirements, the team also met with Technical Delegates of both sports, Badminton and Water polo.
Following the meetings, were visits of the sport venues, including multisport club DVTK Miskolc, which will be used during the EUC in Badminton, as well as the dormitories, catering areas and other rooms used for technical purposes.


Later in the day, a presentation about the preparations of the European Universities Games 2024 was held, led by Ms Evi Antal.

The inspection visit was wrapped up with a final meeting with the members of the Organisational Committee, to discuss the outcomes of the inspection process, fields of improvement, as well as some Q&A session, in order for the preparations to continue in the best way possible.
EUSA thanked the OC for the hospitality and the great work done so far, highlighting that the Championships will be a great event to start with, before organising a greater multi-sport event as the European Universities Games in 2024.
