Memorable online FVLA 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy (FVLA), initially planned to take place in Kazan, Russia at the start of June, was carried out online, with the first part successfully taking place on June 22 and 23, and the second one between September 4 and 6, 2020.
This was the fourth edition of the annual FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy, held this year in an online format due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the fact that it was an online event, it turned out to be very successful, with a strong educational and cultural programme. The event was coordinated by the Organising Committee, located at the University and the city of Innopolis in Russia.
More than 400 participants from 116 National University Sports Federations, covering all five Continental Federations, took part in the event. Also the European University Sports Association (EUSA) was represented at the event. 129 new FISU Student Ambassadors emerged from this year's edition.
The event was opened by the President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Mr Oleg Matytsin. Keynote speeches were given on the topics of Leadership, Clean Sport, Communication, Soft Skills, Public Speaking, Volunteer Management, as well as on the topics of university sport. Workshops accompanied the plenary sessions, engaging the participants over the three days.
