University: Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (POL)

How and why did you get involved in Judo?
I had my first contact with Judo in my physiotherapy corrective classes which was 14 years ago. It was at first just fun and a hobby, but over the course of time it started to be my lifestyle.
What do you study, and how do you balance your study, training and competition?
I have received a Bachelor's degree in Management from Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Currently I am studying Sport at the University School of Physical Education in Wrocław. My specialisation is management of sport organisations. I have always managed to combine study and sport without mishaps. It is a matter of good time management skills.
Tell us about your experiences at the 2017 European Universities Championships. Was it your first time at a EUSA event, and what did you enjoy the most?
Two years ago I took part in the European Universities Championship in Coimbra and I won a silver medal. Last year I participated in the European Universities Games and I won gold. I really enjoyed the friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the athlete’s village, and didn’t feel the stress of the competition at all. I got to know lots of students from different countries and we had a great time. We went sightseeing together and exchanged our views and experiences.
"I would like to encourage all students to make an effort and to take part in such competitions."
Why do you think taking part in university sport is important?
I think that it is really good to take part in university sport. Organising and promoting it among students is really important.
In 2019 the European Universities Judo Championships will take place in Zagreb, Croatia. Do you hope to be there, and if so, how have your preparations been, and what do you hope to achieve?
Unfortunately, I am not going to take part in the European Universities Judo Championships, although I would really like to. I’ve been preparing for the summer Universiade so I won’t be able to be in Zagreb.
What is your message to European student-athletes like yourself?
I would like to encourage all students to make an effort and to take part in such competitions. That is an unforgettable adventure that will remain in your memory forever. I warmly invite everyone to participate!
EUSA would like to congratulate Ula for her success at the EUSA Championships and Games and we wish her all the best for the future!
