Briefly describe how and why did you get involved with Chess?
As a kid I wasn't very talented in sports and always preferred board games so naturally I was attracted to chess. At the age of 9 I joined my Junior school chess club and a few months later I got to compete in my first tournament. I won a medal in my age category and the rest is history.
"It was my second EUSA event and both times I had a fantastic time and tournament."
What do you study? How do you balance your study, trainings and competitions?
I study Electrical Engineering at the university of Belgrade. So far it's been quite hard to combine chess and school. I think it's quite impossible to reach full potential of both at the same time.
Tell us about your experience at the European Universities Chess Championships 2017. Is this your first time at an EUSA event?
I really enjoyed the European Universities Championships 2017. It was my second EUSA event and both times I had a fantastic time and tournament.
"(...)these competitions are extremely important because they promote both sport and education"
In 2019 the European Universities Chess Championship will take place in Budapest, Hungary, do you hope to be there? Why do you think university sport events are important?
I hope I will participate in all of the European Universities Championships during my student years. I think these competitions are extremely important because they promote both sport and education.
This is your chance! What is your message to European students like yourself?
My message to all the European students is to not be stressed about your studies. Health is the most important thing.
EUSA would like to congratulate Adela for medals won so far and we hope to see her again in Budapest. You can start your EUSA story this year at Coimbra!
