LUSF President elected onto LOC board
The Latvian University Sports Federation (LUSF) is beaming with pride after its president Ms Agita Abele was elected onto the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOC) last week.
Following the General Assembly of the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOC) which took place on July 10, the leadership of the LOC, individual members of the LOC, members of the Executive Committee of the LOC and the Audit Commission of the LOC were elected.
Former national rower Mr Zorzs Tikmers was elected as the new president of the organisation, with retired Latvian tennis player Mr Karlis Lejnieks elected as the LOC Secretary General.
In a momentous achievement for university sport both in Latvia and across Europe, LUSF president Ms Agita Abele was elected as an Individual member and Audit Commission member of the LOC.
Ms Abele, a former Latvian figure skating champion, is a renowned figure in Latvia’s university sports scene, with her election into the LOC seen as a major milestone for which she is incredibly honoured.
“Thank you so much for your support!” she said. “A great challenge and honour to work at the LOC court commission with colleagues of the Executive Committee! I have the honour and responsibility to have been elected to the Audit commission of the Latvian Olympic Committee!”
