K2S GenZ volunteers in action

The University of Miskolc, the co-host of the European Universities Games in 2024, hosted the MEFOB Festival on May 19-22, where, for the first time in the history of the hungarian universities championships, competitions in 8 sport disciplines were held at one location. The team of volunteers of the multi sport event also included 10 volunteers from the project “Future volunteers - Key to success is Generation Z (K2S-GenZ)”.

Volunteers were able to tune in to the event with a 3 block workshop the day before the event. The program began with a motivational training aimed at enabling participants with different experiences to perform responsibly at a multisport event and contunued with a playful team building task through which the coordinatiors and the participants got to know each. Finally, the volunteers could listen to a presentation about the event and the organizers, where they could also get acquainted with the values of Hungarian university and college sports, as well as the objectives of the event.

During the 4 days of the MEFOB Festival, the project volunteers were able to test themselves in several areas, completing a total of 264 working hours while working in field of sports, info desk, accreditation, accommodation, meals, attaché, communication and protocol. With their responsible and enthusiastic attitude, the volunteers contributed to the success of the event while the organizers also publicly acknowledged their outstanding contribution in the break of the basketball final match.

As the project continues, volunteers can also experience an international environment as they will participate at the European Universities Games in Lodz in July. Their practical experience will contribute to the implementation of the project and the planned research study.
