International university sports events are slowly making a return, with organisers in various countries doing their best to ensure both safe and successful competitions for student-athletes.

In a challenging time amid the global pandemic, several university sports events were unfortunately either cancelled or postponed, yet in recent months, event organisers have put in immense effort to ensure the university sport movement once again finds its feet, giving an opportunity for university athletes to compete in a secure and competitive environment.

FISU recently announced their sports calendar for upcoming events, with the global university sports community eagerly anticipating the dates when both the FISU Championships and World University Games will take place.

Just last month, Merignac in France played host to the 2021 European Open University Classic Powerlifting Cup which saw 55 student powerlifters from 13 different countries take part in what was a highly successful second edition of this international university-level competition.



Later this month, the 19th edition of the International Rowing Regatta of University Eights 'Sveti Duje' will be held in Split, Croatia between September 24-26, 2021.

Taking place in a bio-secure bubble, the event will see the best university rowing crews in Europe battle it out on Croatian waters, with the event also involving crews from both Oxford and Cambridge universities.

Also in September, the EUSA-EUG Convention will take place in Lodz, Poland, as preparations for next year’s highly-anticipated 2022 European Universities Games continue.

The university sport movement continues to progress despite the challenges, with EUSA remaining committed to promoting and organising safe and enjoyable events for all participants involved.
