International conference on sustainability and legacy in sport held in Ukraine
On November 16 and 17, an international conference on Sustainability and Legacy in Sport: Challenges and Perspectives was held in Kyiv in hybrid format, hosted by the National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Youth and Sport of Ukraine, under the patronage of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE).
The 6th edition of the event was marked by the situation in Ukraine and the current state of affairs caused by the war; yet the organisers and speakers expressed high hopes that that peace will return soon, and sport, education and scientific work will be getting the spotlight.
The array of speakers included EUSA President Mr Adam Roczek, and over the course of two days, several topics were presented and discussed. On Wednesday, the following topics were put forward: Social, ecological, economic, organizational dimensions of sport in the concept of sustainable development; Physical culture sports and of children and youth as components of sustainable development concept; Current challenges of sports and education development and achieving goals of sustainable development. On Thursday, additional overall topics were covered: sports medicine and public health; youth and the Olympic movement; Sports and modern society; Current challenges of training choreographers in higher educational institutions.
