The International Conference "Sport. Education. Culture" under the patronage of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA) was held in Kazan, Russia from June 17-18, 2011. The conference assembled university sports leaders and managers from all over the world.

After the official opening of the event by the Tatarstan Prime Minister, the floor was given also to the Mayor of Kazan, FISU President and Executive Director of the Russian Olympic Committee for their welcome addresses to more than 100 participants of the conference.

After that, the presentation of the FISU International Education Centre was made by Russian Student Sports Union President Mr Oleg Matytsin. Many speakers from the university sports world, including Mr Gualtieri, EUSA President, made after a number of interesting presentations on the future development of the university sports world and international university sport activities.

EUSA was represented by Mr Alberto Gualtieri, EUSA President and Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, Secretary General. Present on the conference were also FISU President and many board members, representatives of national and continental university sports federations and also the EUSA Vice-Presidents Mr Sinisa Jasnic and Mr Oleg Matytsin, Treasurer Mr Leonz Eder, and board members Mr Otmar Kugovnik and Mr Ceslovas Garbaliauskas.

The conference also saw the participation of Executive Director of the Russian Olympic Committee Mr Marat Bariev, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation Mrs Natalia Parshikova, Tatarstan Prime Minister Mr Ildar Khalikov, Kazan Mayor Mr Ilsur Metshin and Tatarstan Minister of Touth, Sports and Tourism Mr Rafis Burganov.

On the next day, the cooperation agreement between the Russian Student Sports Union (RSSU) and Eurasian Association of Universities (EAU) was signed by Mr Oleg Matytsin, RSSU President and Mr Vladimir Fillipov, Vice-President of the EAU. The agreement is designed to establish cooperation between two organizations for management of the FISU International Education Centre in Kazan. Apart from that, the agreement stipulates holding regular workshops, conferences that will gather global sports experts, as well as other special events aimed at promoting university sport in other countries of the world.
