Inauguration of EUG 2020 Headquarters in Belgrade

The Organizing Committee of the European Universities Games 2020 Belgrade, Serbia, invited guest and partners to attend the inauguration of the new Headquarters, which will be the home of the Games planning committee from now until the closing of the Games in Belgrade. The new headquarters are located in city centre at the administrative district of Belgrade. It has the capacity to accommodate more than 100 EUG staff, and has beautiful meeting rooms and press areas that will serve to host the events and meetings leading to the games.

European University Sports Association (EUSA) attended the inauguration of the new EUG 2020 Headquarters, represented by its President Mr Adam Roczek, Secretary General Mr Matjaz Pecovnik and its Sports Manager Mr Besim Aliti. EUSA President congratulated the Organising Committee and its partners, highlighting the importance of this event for the successful delivery of the Games.

Mr Sinisa Jasnic, the President of the Organising Committee (OC) and the Serbian University Sports Federation (USSS), thanked the audience for attending the event and emphasized that this event is one of the key milestones towards the successful delivery of the Games in 2020. He revealed the plan for employment of staff and in the end, presented the 2018 calendar of USSS.

In her address, Ms Ivanka Popovic, the Vice-Rector of the University of Belgrade, said that the headquarters will be the house of the new improvements in the University Sport of Serbia and the Serbian sport in general. She emphasized the legacy that this Games aim to create and the importance of bringing back the Physical activity to the universities and building the new University Sports Centre in Bezanijska Kosa.

Prior to the inauguration, EUSA representatives attended several working meetings in Belgrade and Ljubljana to discuss the EUG 2020 master plan, which is being prepared under EUSA auspices and is in final phase of preparation at the moment.
