The International Dance Organisation (IDO) organised on December 6 the next edition of the IDO-EUSA European Universities Championships, which were held in conjunction with the prestigious IDO World Ballet, Modern & Jazz Championships in Ossa, Poland.

The IDO-EUSA event saw university student dancers competing in their respective solo female and solo male Modern & Contemporary as well as Jazz Dance divisions. Many of the dancers that have performed in the finals in previous editions, have been eligible for additional scholarship points at their universities, received additional funding from their Government and also have had their points evaluated for sport scholarships.

Male competitions

The events were part of OSSA Dance Week and saw 4,500 dancers from 32 nations and 4 continents taking part. The event included also the The IDO World Gala Event trophy, which has been named the Bill Fowler Cup, honouring the honorary president that recently passed away.

Gala winners

IDO Vice-President and Sports Director, Ms Fiona Johnson Kocjancic said: ‘I am delighted that we have once again being able to hold the IDO EUSA University Championships as part of a spectacular IDO event, on this occasion in Poland. This not only supports our Sports Department’s work, in providing opportunities for young people, but it also enhances the partnership between the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the International Dance Organization (IDO). We look forward to organising these championships in the future!’
